Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Who’s Convincing Who & Why

Tune in to the Inspiring Human Potential podcast on Anchor to hear more on the topic 😊

In situations where you are trying to convince someone or someone else is trying to convince you, there are things you can learn about yourself and the other person thanks to an inner growth mindset.

As long as you’re open to listening and focusing within (instead of the external), you will gain valuable insights that will help you grow and transform in a way that sheds light to share your love and passion on a topic or situation, and not in a way that imposes your way.  For the inverse scenario, when you are open to listening to someone who is trying to convince you, you get to learn about the other and this enables you to communicate more effectively with them; and in a way that hopefully can get them to at least understand what you’re trying to say.

Here are different ways you can use an inner growth mindset to gain valuable insights from situations where convincing takes place.

  1. Every time you catch yourself trying to convince someone of something, stop yourself in your tracks and switch your intent to sharing information, not convincing.

  1. Make a list of reasons why you are compelled to convince others of certain opinions. Next to each why, ask what changes if others are convinced that your opinion is right and how would you feel if the roles were reversed.

  1. When someone is trying to convince you remind yourself that it’s only a conversation and this is an opportunity for you to learn something more about the person or group of people you’re talking to.

Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
