Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Frustration Does What For You?

When you’re in a moment of frustration, it is a bit challenging to take a step back and see the lesson from the experience you’re living in that moment.  Since every interaction you have tells you something about you, others, and life; when you stay focused on the frustration component in these situations, you are not in a mode to also see the rest.

 

Taking a step back as soon as you catch the frustration removes the veil that blinds you and the defensive walls that are up and closing you off from the insights around you.  As you catch yourself in the moment there are then things that can help you find out what lessons, knowledge, and additional inner growth pursuits there are for you. Here’s a couple of them to help you in the moment with using frustration for your inner growth journey.

 

  1. As soon as you identify the frustration ask yourself questions to start understanding what your frustrations are about: Why are you upset? Why are you in defense mode?  Does what the other have to say affect you personally or this opinion?

 

  1. Redirect your focus on a feeling of calm, whether that’s by centering yourself or a breathing technique, it is important that you choose to quench the fire instead of fuel it thanks to the power of your mind.

 

  1. Every time you get frustrated identify your progress in diminishing the time that frustration blinds you from the rest of what you can learn in that moment. Write about it and how that makes you feel, as well as what lessons you are seeing each time.
