Inner Growth Word of the Day: Behavior

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1 a. the manner of conducting oneself.  2. the way in which someone conducts oneself or behaves.

Behavior in a sentence: Your behavior holds deeper meanings that you uncover over time and that benefit you throughout your inner growth journey.

Behavior in action: What you do and how you do it or actions you take in specific situations are considered behavior.

Behavior and inner growth: When you explore your behavior you pursue inner growth because you start looking at your actions and thoughts together, which brings you to ask questions and decisions when you become aware of inconsistencies or consistencies; basically, when you notice something that you want to address.

Behavior and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What do I like most about my behavior? When did I start exploring my behavior?  How does my behavior change in situations?  Why is it important to me to learn more about my behavior?  How has my behavior affected my life?  Who has influenced my behavior the most?  How has that influence on my behavior changed over time?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with behavior at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of three behaviors: a past behavior, a present behavior, and a future behavior.  Now write about all three and notice what stands out about each (so why is the past one in the past, what do you think of your present one, and why do you want to gain that future behavior, what makes it important).

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about your behavior and see how you start to feel, where your emotions go, but also what thoughts come to mind, any specific situations. Explore each thought and allow the feelings accompanied with that thought to flow, tell you something as they flow.  Anything that stands out from your emotions, remove thoughts for about five minutes and just close in on those sensations that are expressing themselves throughout your body.
