Inner Growth Word of the Day: Personalize
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (v.) 2. to make personal or individual.
Personalize in a sentence: Sometimes we personalize things that don’t have anything to do with us personally.
Personalize in action: When you identify something as yours you personalize it.
Personalize and inner growth: Exploring what you personalize helps you to understand the things you identify with the most, but also sometimes the insecurities you hold when you are personalizing in a conversation or argument something that another is saying. With this line of questioning to what your reasons are, you uncover things about you and pursue inner growth as you gain understanding, awareness, and the choice to transform what you find.
Personalize and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: When do I personalize things? How has personalizing something affected my life? What have I learned about myself from the things I personalize? When was the first time I thought about personalization as something I did and do? Why is what I personalize important to me? What have I learned about my relationships through personalizing things?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with personalize at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list pick one word that embodies the emotions you feel from one of the most important events where personalization had everything to do with it. Write about this event and feeling using the rest of the words from your list.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about personalize and allow them to flow, noticing where they are coming from and where they go. As you do this visualize a body of water that sooths you, a spot that you love to visit throughout the year. Now take note if the emotions that are coming about change as you move to this location in your mind and if so, notice how exactly.
