Inner Growth Word of the Day: Reassurance
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. the action of reassuring.
Reassurance in a sentence: Everyone wants some form of reassurance sometimes and particularly with matters that are very important to them and their life.
Reassurance in action: When you seek assurance from someone or something regarding yourself or a choice or anything else in your life, that is reassurance.
Reassurance and inner growth: Exploring where you want reassurance gives you a starting point of where some vulnerabilities lay in your sense of security for a particular characteristic. In looking closer at what is bothering you and what doubts you have (as you seek reassurance), you pursue inner growth because of awareness and the ability to address those issues and doubts.
Reassurance and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: When have I looked for reassurance? What particular circumstances required more reassurance than others? Who has given me reassurance? How did I learn about reassurance? How has reassurance affected my relationships? What types of lessons have I learned about life from reassurance?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with reassurance at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From these words pick three that embody how you feel about reassurance. From these three words write about the first life event that comes to mind where you needed reassurance to get through that moment.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about reassurance and allow them to flow without thinking about anything. As you do this notice where your emotions are coming from and where they are going. If you notice any blockages visualize them flowing down stream and when you’re ready also allow thoughts to come in. When you do this, notice what thoughts come to mind and focus on the ones that bring about more emotions alongside them.
