Inner Growth Word of the Day: Poor (lack of)
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) 8. lacking a normal or adequate supply of something specified
Poor in a sentence: When you have a poor mindset even the richest of things that can be in your life is seen as lacking.
Poor in action: Poor, as in a mindset and not materially, is the idea that you lack something personally or in your life.
Poor and inner growth: When we take a look at the things we see as poor within us or in our life we have the opportunity to know what we see as missing from a life and person that would make us happy. This means you have the opportunity to take action and explore this idea for what it is, maybe just an idea or if it is actually true, for you to decide how you’re going to fill this void, this lack of whatever it is you’re feeling. In approaching poor from this angle inner growth comes naturally and as a consequence of your proactive choices.
Poor and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: When did I first think about the idea of poor as a mindset? How has a poor mindset affected my life? What type of areas do I see as poor? How do I react when I start thinking in a poor mindset or when I see something within me as poor? When do I take action to change those things I see as poor in my life? How have I helped someone who has a poor mindset regarding themselves or their life? What have I learned from observing those with a poor mindset?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with poor at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. Pick three to five words that cause the biggest emotional response within you. From those words pick two that remind you of a situation you experienced and use the first list of words to write about these two events in your life.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about poor and let them tell you more about this idea of lack that can sometimes take place in your thoughts. As you do this notice where your emotions seem to focus and try to visualize them moving on from that area to flow without staying stuck in one or more areas of your body. When you feel your emotions are flowing freely allow thoughts to come in and pay attention to the first thought that comes to mind. Contemplate that thought through the feelings it brings about within you.
