Inner Growth Word of The Day 103 – Opinions

April 13

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Opinions

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1 a. a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter.  2 a. belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge.

Opinions in a sentence: Your opinions are just as important as other people’s opinions, especially when it comes to matters of your life.

Opinions in action: A point of view or belief of something or someone is an opinion.

Opinions and inner growth: Evaluating your opinions and how you’ve formulated them, as well as why they are what they are, bring about inner growth through the exploration of your thoughts and feelings.

Opinions and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I define opinions? What are some of the most important opinions I hold and how did they come to be?  What have my opinions taught me about myself?  How do my opinions affect my life?  How do my opinions affect my relationships?  Have my opinions changed through time?  If so, which ones and why?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with opinions at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From the list of words pick three that stand out the most.  Next to these three words write one opinion they all bring to mind.  Write about that opinion and what is important about, as well as how it’s played a part in your life and where you’re at with your life today.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about opinions and allow that initial feeling to spread throughout your body. Keep your mind silent at first, but after a couple minutes or when you’re ready, let your thoughts come into play too.  Notice what’s the first thing that comes to mind and what feeling that sparks, focus on one thought at a time and slowly switch to the next when you’re ready.
