Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1 a. an injurious, unfair, or unjust act. 1 b. a violation or invasion of the legal rights of another. 2. something wrong, immoral, or unethical. 3. the state, position, or fact of being or doing wrong: such as: 3 a. the state of being mistaken or incorrect, 3 b. the state of being guilty.
Wrong in a sentence: Who decides what’s wrong and how did they make this decision?
Wrong in action: When someone does something that is considered unjust or incorrect, this is considered wrong.
Wrong and inner growth: Thinking about the things you’ve done or said that are considered wrong is a great place to look inward and ask questions like if you think you’re wrong or why is what you’ve done or said wrong. It’s also helpful to inner growth to understand how you label things or others wrong, to explore your considerations from a neutral ground and see what you can uncover about your definitions.
Wrong and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel about what is wrong? How about when I’m wrong? How do I define wrong? Have my definitions of wrong changed through time? If so, how and why? Do I think my definitions of wrong could change again? How has being wrong affected my life? How has it affected the lives of those who I have judged wrong? What role does wrong play in life?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with wrong at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Now write down five events that come to mind based on your list of words where wrong was a part of the situation. Pick one of those events and rewrite the story without the “wrong” component involved. How were you and the others in the story different?
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about wrong and as you allow your feelings to flow, if you notice recurring thoughts crossing your mind write them down. Then one by one, refocus your attention to those individual situations that crossed your mind and as you focus on each notice what type of feeling you’re feeling and contemplate why you think you feel this way about each of them.
