The Surrounding Silence

SILENCE DOES NOT SPEAK,
IT MAKES NO SOUND.
WHEN NOTHING IS SAID OR SEEN MUCH IS LEFT UNKNOWN.
SENSATIONS ARE STRONG AND TRUE
AS LONG AS THERE IS FAITH.

BUT NOTE: FAITH IS USUALLY WITH GOD, NOT HUMANS
WHO TRICK AND STEAL AND HURT.
HOW FAR WILL YOU TRUST SOMEONE WHO’S INVISIBLE?
HOW LONG TILL YOU THINK THE TALES ARE LIES?
AND HOW FAR CAN ONE SIDED EFFORTS GO?

TIS NO FUN TO THINK YOU ARE LOVED, FEEL LOVED,
YET HAVE NO SIGN OF IT; ONLY YOUR FAITH HOLDING IT ALL.
ONE COULD ASK: IF THOU BELIEVES IN GOD THROUGH FAITH WHERE LAY
THE DIFFERENCE WITH SOMEONE YOU LOVE?
AND ONE COULD ANSWER: GOD DOES NOT LIE, STEAL, NOR TRICK.

THESE HUMAN QUALITIES
AID IN THE LOSS OF FAITH.
NO ONE WANTS TO BE ANYONE’S FOOL.
AND WHEN FACED WITH NOTHING
THESE IDEAS COME TO MIND WITH GREAT EASE.

IN TIMES OF SILENCE ALL ONE CAN HEAR
ARE THE LEAVES BLOWING IN THE WIND,
THE WAVES CRASHING ASHORE,
ONE’S OWN BEATING HEART
AND THE WHISPERS OF ONE’S THOUGHTS.

SURROUNDING SILENCE ALLOWS FOR CONTEMPLATION AND DOUBTS,
LEFT TO NAVIGATE THROUGHOUT YOUR HEAD.
AT FIRST DEALT WITH QUITE WELL;
ONLY TO BE LATER LOST IN THE OVERWHELMING VOICE OF SILENCE.

Hope – Thursdays Poets Rally

It fills with water
Slowly suffocating
Keep afloat
Believe and trust

There is a map
Unknown to you
But known to one

The sun keeps shining
And the water keeps rising
